Large Format Open Edition (Large) Artist Jeff Haynie creatively symbolizes the "Sword of the Spirit" as it cuts through the darkness of sin. The flame from the sword depicts the friction of good against evil. The rubies are symbolic of Jesus' blood that cleanses us from all sin (I John 1:7). The lions symbolize the Lion of Judah — a reference to Christ's bloodline. The hands holding the pearl are from the parable of The Pearl of Great Price which symbolizes Christ (Matthew 13:45-46). The wheat on the blade is in reference to Christ's sacrifice (John 12:23-24). The "Sword of the Spirit" is our weapon against spiritual warfare. It is also the living word of God which is powerful and sharper than any double-edged sword...and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of our hearts (Hebrews 4:12).
